"My son joined Sensei Coles class in San Diego,CA when he was 6 years old, 2006. Sensei taught him respect, perseverance, patients, honor, critical thinking and so many more things to list. My son is now 15 years old and displays everything that Sensei Cole taught him on a daily basis. He helped my son in becoming respectful, helpful young man he is today and he misses his Sensei and classes.
Sensei is a wonderful teacher, hilarious, a decorated veteran with a great work ethic. You could not put your kids in better hands than with Sensei Cole. I hope you webcast or can Skype Stacio into class!! Miss you Sensei!?

"It's better to know it and not need it, than to need it and not know it" - Sensei Dan

"We just signed up and have only been to 2 classes but Parker is loving it. The class schedule is perfect for us. My biggest goal for my son, is to learn to be patience and have self control. He was diagnosed with Aspergers Spring 2016 and we have social skills play therapy that has been amazing, which this time last year we were going once a week. We are now at once a month and all without any medication. As we continue with therapy, now is time to start to advance on our journey for my son to be a successful member of society. I have prayed and God has answered. Normally it will take Parker a few weeks to sometimes a month to open up from his shell around new people and in a new environment. Just after 2 classes, he is already getting comfortable. That tells me all I need to know. Thank you Christi Cox for introducing us!"

"Dan is an amazing teacher! He is dedicated and enjoys working with families to help anyone who is excited to learn. You can't go wrong with this Martial Arts school!"

-Lisa Grimes (Parent)

"I am an old student of Sensei Dan Cole's from the original American Karate Do/Shorin-Ryu school in San Diego, California. He contributed much of his time then, and humbly continues to this day now in Lindale, to enrich the lives of those that want to learn and apply Martial Arts.
What Sensei Cole taught in that little school in San Diego--integrity, courage, compassion, politeness, honesty, honor, loyalty (the Samurai Code/Bushido)--translated to how I carried myself into life now 20 years later. No, Martial Arts is not just a way to defend oneself, but it's really a way of life in the best way. Really. I can say with some certainty that the many many other students that he taught and mentored must have grown up with those virtues in mind. At least 8 of which during my generation were promoted up to 2nd or 3rd degree Black Belt on Sensei Cole's watch--not an easy feat that took at least 7 years to accomplish in my own case.
Without Sensei Cole's dedication to the Art, steady guidance and motivation to never give up, many characteristics acquired through studying Shorin-Ryu that shaped me as a human may have never had developed. Put simply, there's A LOT of things--from how I respond to verbal or physical conflict/aggression to calming my own nerves through meditation--that I can attribute back to the Art under Sensei Cole's school.
Writing this took me back. I can assure you that this school, American Karate Do in Lindale, Texas will reward anyone and everyone that sets foot here. Thank you, Sensei."

"Amazing Dojo. Dan is so good with kids and calm with his teachings. He makes karate fun while instructing them. They always pick up something new every class!"

- Gina Herndon (Parent and Student)

"I'm a former student of Sensei Dan Cole and I'm very happy to see that what started in San Diego has now moved on and is growing and thriving where Sensei Dan Cole has taken it, in Lindale, Texas.
I'm honored and proud to have been a part of the experience and it's definitely something to get into at any age. You learn a lot through the practice of this art form. I learned about the history/philosophy/discipline of this style of martial arts (Shorin Ryu), a bit of the Japanese culture it was developed in, and learned Japanese terminology.
Through Sensei Cole, I was taught discipline, responsibility, humility, and developed a sense of pride, tolerance, and acceptance. All of which have been invaluable characteristics in my everyday life. Everything I learned from the class, from Sensei, and from my peers, has followed me into what I'm doing currently. That is to say, martial arts isn't always about learning to fight or learning to defend yourself. And aside from all of that, the drills and strength conditioning make for a good work out ;)
Sensei Cole provides the best learning environment for any and all ages and levels. Whether you're new and have an interest in it or if you're a veteran of another martial arts form, training with Sensei Cole is definitely worth the time and effort."
